Role Overview:
The Head of POI Collection Operations will lead and oversee the entire POI collection process across various teams and channels. This role will be responsible for managing the daily operations of collecting, reviewing, and validating POIs through on-ground surveys, phone calls, panoramic imagery analysis, and web-based research. You will work closely with technology teams, product teams and field operators to ensure the seamless and high-quality collection of POI data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the POI collection team, including field surveyors, desk reviewers, and call center staff.
- Develop strategies to optimize POI collection from multiple sources, such as on-ground surveys, panoramic images, and web platforms.
- Establish scalable POI collection processes and workflows to support rapid data acquisition and expansion.
- Ensure data quality by setting processes for validation, enrichment, and accuracy checking of collected POIs.
- Track performance metrics and KPIs for all the operations team to continuously improve the POI collection and ingestion process
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts between the POI Tech team, map editing team and internal Product team
- Adapt quickly to changing market conditions and customer feedback to refine POI collection efforts.
- Manage budget constraints effectively while ensuring efficient and high-quality POI data collection.
- Contribute to building a data-driven culture within the startup by emphasizing the importance of accurate and comprehensive POI data.
- Handle escalations related to data collection issues, operational inefficiencies, or team performance.
- Mentor and develop team members, ensuring high motivation and productivity.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in operations management, with a focus on data collection, logistics, or field operations.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams, including on-ground personnel and data operations staff.
- Knowledge of GIS and mapping technologies like FME, ArcGIS, PostGIS, QGIS
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle operational challenges in dynamic environments.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with tech teams, field operators, and management.
- Experience in building and optimizing operational workflows and processes.
- Proficiency in performance tracking and data-driven decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management, Geography, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
